Oahspe Study and Faithism
The Faithist Year and Solstice
The two days that encompass the Northern Hemisphere Summer Solstice mark the Most Holy Sabbath (Old Years Day) and New Years Day. They will reset the Faithist Calendar following the last sunset before the Solstice at Day 1 of Year 171 Anno Kosmon.
Oahspe reveals that being in harmony with Jehovih's times and seasons includes setting our calendar according to the actual cycles of HIS creation. Our year should coincide with the yearly cycle of the earth around the sun and the monthly cycle of the moon around the earth. Below are the verses (as set forth in the 1882 edition of Oahspe) regarding the Faithist Year.
Book of Inspiration: 34/14.1 - 25.
These are Tae's revelations of Jehovih's times and seasons, appointed to the chosen:
The northern line of the sun shall be the end of the year, and shall be called the last day of the old year, says Jehovih.*
And the first day after that, when the sun starts on his southern course, shall be the beginning of the year, and it shall be called the new year's day.
These are My times of the end and the beginning of a year, which I created; and I made the earth and the sun as My written testimony of them.
And I blessed and sanctified the old year's day and the new year's day, and I appointed them to be holy days, so that men might remember the order and the system of My works.
And I said to man: From one new year's day until the succeeding one shall be called one year, for it is one completed oscillation of the earth, and of her revolution in the orbit where I placed her.
Therefore, what you have completed within a year shall be remembered by you, so that you may judge yourself in those matters.
And on the old year's day, you shall render up full forgiveness in all things against all people.
And with the setting of the sun on that day, you shall be purged of all animosity and claims against every man, woman and child, in the entire world.
And you shall acknowledge this in words, songs, prayers, and in tokens of no intrinsic value, to whomever you had offended during the past year.
Tae said: For which reason, the old year's day shall be named the Most Holy Sabbath Day. Behold, it is in accord with His heavenly kingdoms. And it shall be with you a day of spiritual communion, and of praise to Jehovih and His creations; with music, oratory, and ceremonies, and processions for your youth, orderly and well disciplined.
And on the new year's day, you shall rejoice and sing and dance; mingling together, old and young, even as the old year and the new year are joined together, side by side.
The seventh day of the new year shall be your next sabbath day, and it shall be a day of rest and of spiritual communion, and praise to Jehovih and His creations, with singing and oratory.
So also shall every seventh day be a sabbath day; for which reason seven days shall be one week, being six days for labor, and one for rest and worship.
For this has been proven throughout the world, to be good for man. ||
*The northern line of the sun is the latitude Tropic of Cancer. It is the Summer Solstice in the northern hemisphere. This verse is from the 1882 Oahspe. (The 1891 Oahspe editor thought this should instead be referring to the Winter Solstice, and he tried incorporating into the 1891 edition of Oahspe, changes to that effect.) Also, see 05/12.13, where the first year was established by the first God of earth, Sethantes.
These, then, shall be the moon's days (months):
The first new moon's day after new year's day shall be the beginning of the first month; and the completion of the fourth quarter of the moon shall be the completion of the first month, and it shall be named, First month.
The next four quarters of the moon shall be the second month, and it shall be named, Second month.
And the next completed four quarters of the moon shall be named, Third month. And so on, to the completion of the year.
Such, then, shall be the months in any and every year, for these are the moon's times as Jehovih created them.
Neither shall it matter whether or not the months overlap a new year's day; as they are created and moved by the Almighty, even so shall man compute and register them.
For example, a new year's day may come upon the twentieth day of the Twelfth moon or on another moon's day; still, as they fall, so shall they be numbered in truth. ||
As the moon's time differs to different continents, so shall the months' times of the inhabitants of different continents be locally to them.
But, in the intercourse between different nations on different continents, the month times shall not be enumerated.
But in all such cases, the year and the days of the year shall be named. ||
This time of year marks when Jehovih integrates all together into one whole heaven and earth and sets the foundation for the coming year. For the end of year 170 AK and beginning of year 171 AK --- Starting at 11:54 am Eastern Daylight Time USA on 170AK365 aka June 20, 2019 ce, the earth and its heavens undergo a sweeping holy cleansing by Jehovih and His ethe currents, and this holy cleansing endures 24 hours till the June solstice time, and the beginning of the new year: 171AK aka June 21, 2019 ce at 11:54 am Eastern Daylight Time. This holy cleansing sweep follows the course of the setting sun around the earth even as stated in Oahspe.
Accordingly, as you observe Most Holy Sabbath on that day of your last sunset before the solstice occurs, Jehovih and His heaven will be there, blessing and being blessed with a Most Holy Cleansing, and then continuing on to the next day which is the New Year's Day and its celebratory nourishments.
Calculating the Most Holy Sabbath and New Year's Day
With regard to Faithist reckoning as to when the old year ends and the new begins, the Oahspe verses can be confusing. The object is to find the solution that fits ALL the statements. For example, one must be able to explain what "even with the travel of the sun" around the earth means in relationship to the June Solstice point, Old Year day and New Year day and the Setting of the sun on Most Holy Sabbath Day which yields the most holy cleansing; and what holy cleansing has to do with the travel of the sun.
The following two verses are pertinent to determining which day is Most Holy Sabbath and which day is New Year's Day:
"The northern line of the sun shall be the end of the year, and shall be called the last day of the old year" (34/14.2)
"And the first day after that, when the sun *STARTS* on his southern course, shall be the beginning of the year..." (Emphasis added) (34/14.3)
**Notice, it does not say the sun: "IS UNDERWAY on his southern course" but STARTS on his southern course.
Those two verses together might not seem to make sense if we are thinking in terms of the Solstice Point as we know it---read out of a publication (or online) from the calculations of astronomers. But what if you lack access? Might you not drive stakes in the ground marking the northern and southern lines of the sun on the eastern horizon? And when the northern line of the sun is reached---then that is Old Year's Day. And what happens the next day? Well, we know from Thothma and others up to our times, that the sun seems to stand still at its northern and southern points. For which reason, on the second day when the sun seems to be standing still at its northern point, man knows from experience that the sun is *starting* on its southern course.
What that means is that the Solstice Point stands BETWEEN those two days when the sun seems to stand still at the solstice point. Thus, when the sun reaches the northern line, then that marks the Most Holy Sabbath Day. The next day, when the sun starts on its southern course, marks the New Year's Day. Said again, and this is the important part: when stakes are pounded in the ground marking the northern line of the sun, then the sun shall reach the northern line on the DAY BEFORE the actual Solstice Point; and on the next day even though the sun seems to stand still on its north point, it is actually starting to move south. Thus Old Year's Day and New Year's Day are "joined together, side by side" even as stated in Oahspe. And those two days are more or less centered around the June Solstice Point. Looked at from that perspective, both Oahspe verses now make complete sense.
The advantages of this stake method are at least fourfold. First, this method requires no mathematics and virtually no astronomical understanding, but only observational skill. And second, this stake method can be done at all locations around the earth. Third, as virtually anyone can do this, so a person, fraternity, or community need not be dependent upon communication from some distant authority. And fourth, it is easier to explain and simpler to comprehend than the alternative mathematical approach. Probably for those reasons, the Oahspe authors presented the information using this approach.
But there are also three big downsides. First, when the sun is near the solstice point it is difficult to discern when the northern line is reached because the distance the sun moves daily is extremely minimal on the horizon (at sunrise or sunset) or as a shadow cast at high noon. Second, one might not be able to detect exactly whether or not the northern point has been reached because compared to other years, each year's high noon point (or horizon points) differs in its distance (time interval) to the solstice point. This means that at the time of sunrise or high noon or sunset, the sun might never reach the very edge of the previous year's line, or it might go slightly past it. Third, because the time of the solstice will only be approximate (somewhere between the two standstill days), this is a very coarse-grained way to determine Old Year's Day and New Year's Day. And some century and an half into kosmon finds virtually no one driving stakes to find the solstice point. There is no need to. Because astronomers of today can be more precise in their calculations (we find they are still late by a couple of minutes), so we can more carefully determine when that Solstice point is.
Presumably, the Oahspe authors wrote the way they did concerning Most Holy Sabbath and New Year's Day, first, for the advantages previously mentioned, and second, because they knew man would come to figure out exactly what was going on with regard to the end of the year and the beginning of a new year. Man would figure it out because of the clues the Oahspe authors left in plain sight. Think about it. In a very few short verses, the Oahspe authors managed to convey enough open gates for man to piece together the Es of the matter.
These days, over a century and a half after kosmon began, we now know fairly precisely when each yearly June Solstice point is, and even when it has been (within the limits of the mathematical model used); and most peoples in the world have ready access to that information via the internet. And since we are all in Kosmon times where the world is virtually as a unit already in many things, we need to find some clearer way to determine exactly "WHEN" the Old Year Day is for everyone around the world so that we can be in concert, which, in turn, will bring us to the question of what does being in concert mean.
Already we know that at a minimum it means everyone can be in synchronization with heaven as to times and seasons in all things. We know that to attain to that awareness and timing requires goodness of heart, cleanliness, purity, clarity, wholesomeness, virtue, etc., in short, an advancement through the Faithist Discipline. The observance of Most Holy Sabbath Day signifies a willingness or desire for that concert, or, on a higher level, a strengthening of that concert. But, its effect depends upon man's developed talent to perceive the significance of what comes at the end of the year and beginning of a new one. Oahspe provides a key by setting forth the importance of sunset on Most Holy Sabbath Day.
An Oscillation as a Global Measurement
Since we are now
wise enough to know nearly precisely when the June Solstice Point is, we should
also be wise enough to perceive that it is the earth as a GLOBE that is
oscillating in its yearly course (revealed by the sun oscillating from north to
south line and back again). Man typically interprets that oscillation as the
sun's apparent motion through the Onk (zodiacal belt), the so-called celestial
perspective. But, in reality, this apparent drift of the sun depicts the
earth's yearly motion with regard to the c'vortex and its focal point, which is
the sun. (A c'vortex refers to a carrying vortex, i.e., a chief vortex, here
being the Great Serpent that carries the sun and its satellites such as the
earth, and which has as its focal point the sun.)
But this yearly oscillation is only one motion of the earth, for it also has a
daily motion. In a daily cycle the sun seems to zip through the onk; that is,
looked at with the eyes only, if at sunrise the sun is at the beginning of the
constellation of Aries at the March Equinox point, for example, then during the
day the sun arcs (courses) through the sky in the path of the onk (zodiacal
belt) only to set and rise again and lo, it is back again in Aries at
essentially the point where it started! Apparently, the sun has traversed the
onk in one day! With more precise measurement, when the sun makes its daily
circuit around the onk, its return to sunrise will find, in actuality, that it
progressed forward in the onk about 1 degree of arc into Aries. And a year's
worth of these daily circa 1 degree advancements will take the sun through each
of the 12 constellations of the onk and bring it back around to the March equinox
point again, that is, to essentially where it started at zero degrees Aries.
(There are 365 days in a year and 360 degrees in an onk, so that the actual
advancement of the sun through the onk is slightly less than one degree per
day.)
For which reason, it will be seen that the sun's apparent daily onk motion
(once around the onk) has a connection with its apparent yearly onk oscillation
(once around the onk). Accordingly, even as the sun undergoes a noticeable
one-year oscillation upon the earth, so the sun undergoes a noticeable
oscillation (rises to high noon then falls) through one global day of 24 hours.
Thus, the June Solstice is the equivalent to "Hi'dang" (High Noon;
35/D.43) of the "yearly day" (i.e., in comparing a year to being like
a day).
So that, thinking globally, a person's Most Holy Sabbath Day is connected with
the movement of the Globe both in terms of a yearly oscillation and in terms of
a 24-hour day. That is, the oscillation is experienced in terms of days. For
which reason there are (usually) 365 days in an oscillation; and so the last
day of the oscillation is Most Holy Sabbath Day, a 24-hour phenomenon.
This means that in order to experience the fullness of the last global day of
the oscillation, a person must experience it in a global fashion and from a
global perspective, even while experiencing it locally. Which means it takes 24
hours to experience that final global day of oscillation---Most Holy Sabbath
Day---through all its daily times and seasons of sunrise (dawn), early morning,
mid-morning, late-morning, high noon, early afternoon, mid-afternoon, late
afternoon, sunset, dusk, evening, late night, midnight, deep night, pitch
(tar-dark night) and pre-dawn twilight. Thus, there are 4 times in a day
(sunrise, high noon, sunset, midnight) and 12 seasons in a day just as there
are four stations (ascendant/east, zenith/south, descendant/west, and
nadir/north) and 12 seasons (houses or signs) in the Onk (zodiac). The Onk
(zodiac) is the belt that the sun appears to traverse in course of its yearly
oscillation and in terms of its (seeming) daily rotation. Indeed, in the Middle
Ages, man in Europe marked the divisions of the day by its 12 astronomical
(astrological) signs.
Of all those daily times and seasons, with regard to Most Holy Sabbath Day we
are told through Oahspe that the Sunset is an especially important time.
Accordingly, with a *globe* as its object, the Most Holy Sabbath day must start
globally precisely 24 hours before the Solstice Point so that as the earth
globe spins, a sunset can occur everywhere on that globe just one last time
before the Solstice point. And that is so a most holy cleansing can occur
everywhere on the earth before the June Solstice point.
Most Holy Sabbath Day Cleansing
Consider now the purpose of the most holy cleansing that occurs on sunset of Most Holy Sabbath Day. Since the holy cleansing is an integral part of that completion event called Most Holy Sabbath Day, is it not clear that the holy cleansing is connected to the oscillation of the sun reaching completion? If so, would it not also make sense that the cleansing is preparation for the start of a NEW oscillation with its new spiritual vibration (inspiration)? So that the essential reason for the most holy cleansing must be, at a minimum, to clean the slate (spirit, mind and soul) to prepare it for being written upon when the New Year starts?
Said another way, on balance, would a cleansing shower be appropriate immediately AFTER one has launched on a new journey---or would it come before you left the house? Common sense says the cleansing shower washes a person to a clean slate just BEFORE the new condition / vibration starts---not afterward. After all, it is in the subtle unseen genesis that a new condition is most clearly perceived in all its potential, i.e., before becoming stained or confusion brought in through self, clouded atmosphere, skewed interpretations, etc.
That negative turn comes from those distant from Jehovih. For, it is precisely because the cleansing happens to all persons but uzians tend to be oblivious to it, that such negative effects come from those distant from Jehovih. And such ignorance shall ever be the case till man becomes sufficiently grown in goodness of heart, cleanliness, purity, etc., so as to tune into that new conception which occurs every year at the June Solstice Point. Otherwise, the situation is little different from man not believing a child is created at conception and so, in ignorance or denial commits atrocities upon the developing child. But even as the potential for growth in light is there for the child, to be provided for by its guardians, so the potential is there in that seed of light that comes forth at June Solstice, to be nurtured and built upon by its guardians, being Jehovih's heaven and those mortals who can respond positively to the new condition.
Accordingly, it makes sense to be cleaned to a pure slate and thus made ready to receive (be written upon) and so, to perceive in all its potential glory the first light and gentle impression of that new oscillation imparted by the All Wise Father through His higher realms, descending.....or rather, man rising up to read (be inspired / impressed upon) by its glory. For, at that time, heaven is most prepared and clear for such occasion. The cleansing thus helps man to rise to higher ethe so as to better read that subtle imprint. And this occurs so that during the coming year, we can help bring that germ of potential to the fullness of its glory! Is this not part of being in "concert" with heaven?
Really then, since the most holy cleansing must come before the Solstice Point, and since the most holy cleansing comes with sunset, and because the most holy cleansing comes on Most Holy Sabbath Day also known as Old Year's Day or Last Day of the year, it follows that the most holy sunset cleansing will be experienced Locally during that location's final sunset before the Solstice point sometime during that 24-hour global sweep of the sun around the earth. And that locally, Most Holy Sabbath thus starts on that day when occurs the final sunset before the June Solstice occurs. But in global perspective, starting 24 hours before the June Solstice point is when the Most Holy Sabbath Day starts its sunset cleansing across the entire earth as a globe. That is, at anytime during that 24-hour period, some longitude somewhere on the earth is experiencing a cleansing shower.
Therefore, the cleansing can be consciously experienced and observed both globally and locally, and especially locally at the local sunset with the cleansing sweep of descending holy water that washes one clean preparatory to the rarefied fire (ethe light) that, at the Solstice Point, can be seen as through a clear window filtered by the layers of the firmament above, and which rarefied fire instantly pierces all below (writes on them). Till that Solstice point, the earth is still globally going through its most holy cleansing for the year ending.
To summarize, there is only one final local sunset before the Solstice Point, and that sunset shall occur sometime during that 24-hour period of sunsets sweeping globally prior to the Solstice Point. And during that final local sunset before the Solstice Point, comes the only local most holy cleansing for that closing year. But that which the local cleansing is a part of, man can also partake of. That is, man can partake in the final 24-hour global cleansing as the sunsets sweep around the earth, and especially when the sun reaches the June solstice point and the entire earth is as clean and pure as it will be for that year.
O, imagine being part of the entire earth *consciously* undergoing a mind, spirit and soul cleansing shower in a sweeping continuous succession of local sunsets during that 24-hour period leading to the Solstice point! That shall come about to a considerable degree someday. So that at the June Solstice Point, when comes the *writing* of new inspiration upon that clean slate, then man will be aware collectively of that new charge and thus, more able to move in concert with Jehovih's heavens.
With that in mind, imagine the glory of everyone in the world becoming clean and staying clean for 24 hours. And when that occurs in a sufficiency, so man shall gaze upward amid a holier clarity; and Jehovih's kingdom shall be upon the earth and His heavens read as a book is read---one of the meanings of Kosmon.
So, dear mortals, please awaken to Jehovih and His heavenly ways...
And we shall see...
New potential...
Greeting man on every June Solstice.
Writing on a Clean Slate
So now let us see what the soul writing signifies that occurs at the June Solstice Point.
The most holy cleansing shall culminate for the earth globally over a 24-hour period peaking at the June Solstice Point, when on that clean slate (or as clean as it will be for the year) shall be written for the new oscillation (year) the inspiration from ON HIGH from our Great Father and Sustainer of the All Highest in All Things.
What actually occurs in that writing is that the earth is at its high point, at the peak of its oscillation, and more precisely, in its loftiest, lightest and cleanest yearly position from which place it comes into an aligned contact with subtler spheres and other heavenly phenomena (recall, e.g., its Hi'dang equivalency as well as communion of spirit). And these higher levels align in a clarity (depending upon their grade) through which the "Direction of the Father" (for the new year) descends; moreover, at that time the vision and wisdom of the Father becomes clear(er) to those below who look up and behold the furrows (evidence) of His imprint (light). As for the Father, He is forever farther on.
For, our Father of All is capable of answering countless creations at once and at the same time. But we are comparatively slow to move so that in gazing up from our station, by the time we get to where He was, He is already gone, moving in greater, more comprehensive glories ever higher up. Some might think He does not answer or does not bother to descend, or that He is an impersonal force only, and hence the imprint cannot easily be read unless or until it manifests in the denser forms, even into corporea; but the real reason He seems impersonal is that in this station (which is the South Station in the inner temple lodge) is that we are ever called to rise up to Him, to ever rise higher to the grandeurs He holds for us. In that sense, He can be perceived to be personal but in an impersonal sort of way, doing for the good of all rather than turning aside for one individual. For, that impersonal aspect is simply His system and order which He upholds for the benefit of all and not for any single person. So that our glory is to find His flow and become a worthy Son or Daughter or Holy Group by doing our part within the system and order of His glory.
The June Solstice is the time for man to share with our Heavenly Father in the fullness of that glory. And as Faithists, to honor Him for His great Wisdom and Providence.
All Praise to the All Person, Ruler of the wind and ethe, Master of All Light, Eternal Person of the Word!
O Bestower of Blessings, You Dispenser of blessings upon all || --- we love you.
International Datelines Fixed or Floating?
Presently man in kosmon has many solar calendars; and among other things, they vary as to the start of the year. Ultimately a global calendar system shall emerge, deemed and esteemed as revealing the most telling information and the most functional---not only corporeally but for spiritual attunement purposes. And so, even as stated in Oahspe:
"it shall come to pass that the
sabbath days all around the world shall be the same day to all people, even
with the travel of the sun. By which, Jehovih's heavenly kingdoms shall be in
concert with mortals, as to times and seasons in all things."
(34/14.27-28.)
An international
dateline longitudinally marks when an international day (global day) starts and
ends. It is called a global day because it takes 24 hours for the earth to
rotate to the same sky position of the sun (as in from high noon to high noon).
As Faithists, we know that man shall have ultimately a global day that starts
and ends at the June Solstice Point; but how would the calendar look? Having a
global day that starts and stops at the June Solstice Point creates
complications because at high noon the solstice point occurs over a different
earthly longitude every year. The result is a floating international dateline
that changes its anchored reference point every year. How to apply this
information to a calendar system may seem problematical at first, but a
resolution shall eventually arise.
Man has already a fixed international dateline and a global day that starts and
stops at that established dateline. This gives man an international day (global
day) for calendar making purposes, that is, he has the international dateline
for a reference point. Yet, aside from that international day with its global
time (of the day), we still have our local days with local times of sunrise,
sunset, midnight and noon. And these times are separate, as one might say, from
that international dateline and its global time --- but, the local and
international are still interconnected. That is, we have time zones; and these
are marked by longitudes.
These longitudes together with latitude (upon which to measure, e.g., the sun's
north and south journeys) create a grid system. That grid system is also used
for geographical and navigational purposes. And while the international dateline
marks when one global day ends and begins, so its opposite place, the Greenwich
Time marker (giving so-called Universal Time), along with the March Equinox,
marks the global time and position for astronomical events; and these can be
translated to local time zones.
The Faithist calendar would incorporate such useful structures man has already
developed in his established calendars, but the locations for the anchored
(stable, fixed) international dateline and Universal Time marker may change as
the mankind's focus changes. Considering that these already established markers
were nominated under the auspices of the most dominant naval pre-kosmon nation
during a period of national self expansion and colonization, a new set of
markers may be influenced by kosmon man's increasing awareness as a global
citizen as well as his growing consciousness of the heavens above.
Accordingly, it could happen that the place of God's main throne becomes that
fixed dateline being used as a reference point for ordinary time zones,
geographical and navigational purposes. And beyond that a floating
international dateline aligned with the Solstice point for astronomical and
prophecy purposes, but which shall be related to the fixed international
dateline. All this is not much different from what people abide by on the earth
today with regard to international communication, except the northern line of
the sun with its yearly change in longitude on earth, shall be used as the main
point of reference around which all other calendar measures shall be compared.
Said another way, the exact place (longitude) on earth where high noon occurs
at the solstice point, shall, no doubt, come to mark the main point of
reference for the floating dateline and the starting point of the year for astronomical
and prophecy purposes. Simple math should translate floating time to anchored
time or vice versa.
As for a Faithist common solar calendar with a fixed international dateline, as
stated, it can get complicated. That is so because, whether sunset or midnight
or sunrise or high noon is used for the start of the day, the same problem
exists of someone on the other side of a line being either a day ahead or a day
behind the one on the other side of that line. With the current international
dateline, corporeal complications are minimized because the international
dateline's longitude is located over the Pacific ocean and has little land mass
touching it on either side.
Convenient as that uzian dateline may be, the Faithist calendar is not based
upon man's convenience, but upon opening (and keeping open) the way for his
spiritual attunement to Jehovih's heavens. Accordingly, it is possible that man
shall ultimately use the Faithist astronomical calendar for his common daily
calendar, just as it is possible that man shall use high noon to mark the
beginning and end of a day, going from high point to high point even as he is
instructed to live his year from high point to high point (June Solstice to
June Solstice). This "high point to high point" yearly cycle, itself
mirrors the descent of the ethereans from their high point down into the depths
and then rising up, carrying up others from below with them back up to their
high point (etherea).
This "living a life of attunement to the ways of spirit" requires a
talent built from a discipline not much developed in man. But he is given
do-able steps to start. Observing the year from June to June Solstices is one
such a start. On the other hand, living daily life from noon to noon and with a
floating dateline, is no doubt more than man's spirit, as a whole, is as yet
willing to accomplish.
Accordingly, as it is more convenient and easier to use a stable international
dateline year after year, no doubt so shall such be adopted by the Faithists,
at least initially, in making a yearly calendar, even as previously indicated.
And the Faithists' astronomical/prophetic calendar shall be related to it. This
is not much different to what now is, for one can use Greenwich (so-called
Universal) time that identifies the clock time when each past June solstice
occurred at Greenwich, and then with the help of the grid system, use these
times to determine the geographical high noon longitudes for those solstices.
But the Oahspe authors cleverly cut through most of these *global* things that
man is to work out, and presented him with a workable solution in the
meanwhile. And that sensible solution is, in essence, what is stated in the two
Oahspe verses clarified earlier (34/14.2-3) regarding the northern line of the
sun ending a year and starting a year. And since we now know from the evidence
that the June Solstice Point marks the turnabout from Old Year to New Year, so,
for practical purposes, to *locally* mark the end of the year, the final local
sunset of the year (i.e., before the June Solstice point) marks the
dispensation of the local cleansing and marks Most Holy Sabbath Day for that
location. And the next day marks New Year's Day.
That way, too, regardless of what a person might think about floating or fixed
international datelines or when a day starts and ends (sunset, midnight,
sunrise or high noon), or even if many have different local times and
calendars---yet it will still remain true that the Most Holy Sabbath Day (and
New Year's Day) will be observed on the same day around the world according to
the sweep of the sun. And the key to gaining that global outcome rests with the
final local sunset before the June Solstice Point. (For more detail review "Calculating the Most Holy Sabbath and New Year's Day" section above.)
It being the time of Kosmon, everyone has the freedom, of course, to choose to
observe or not observe, even as to what day, if any, to observe. But then, we
also must take responsibility for our choices. As Seventh Era Faithists we take
to heart what Oahspe says on the subject; and simultaneously we seek
information directly from Jehovih, should there be any question. He has also
given man each other to consult with. Since Faithists seek to align themselves
with Jehovih and the heavens of His God, so with certainty He provides for
those who choose Him. Yet, it is up to each individual and group to recognize
His light and Presence and to align themselves accordingly. With such an
approach, we rest in faith and knowledge that Jehovih's wisdom shall sooner or
later prevail and we ultimately shall see a one-world calendar based on the
same sabbath day observed around the world, following the sun.
The following introduces a more comprehensive context regarding the alignment
that takes place at the June Solstice Point.
The Great GADOL Cycle and the Onk
We spoke of the
yearly cycle of the sun, which from Oahspe we know to be one of the earth's
motions. Now we mention another of earth's motions . It has to do with the
gadol (24,000 years average), which can be detected by the yearly progression
of the sun through the onk (zodiacal belt). The gadol is mostly beyond the
scope of this treatise, but mentioned because it is part of the alignment that
takes place at the June Solstice Point. That is, as days, weeks, months and
seasons are to a year; so is a year and many larger units to a gadol. Which is
to say, as a day is the base unit of a year, so is the year the base unit of
the gadol.
Now, even as in knitting when you join together the highest ends of the loops
to make a row, so do the days at high noon get strung together to make a year,
and so, too, at the June Solstice Point do the years get strung together to
make a gadol. Knitting can create patterns in the finished fabric, and, likewise,
years get strung together into patterns within the gadol. Thus, even as days
knitted together make patterns of weeks, months and seasons, so years knitted
together make patterns of odes, spells, centuries, etc. And even as the
completion of a day (high noon to high noon) can be compared to completing a
knitting loop ready to be lifted and integrated into the fabric, so, similarly,
the completion of a year (high light to high light) marks the completion of a
unit (loop) ready to be lifted and integrated into the fabric of the gadol and
the patterns within it.
We previously mentioned briefly the completion of the day from high noon to
high noon. This is one of the spiritual attunements possible to man, even as
the foundation for it was laid by the Faithists in ancient times in their high
noon ceremonies.
Hi'dang, high noon
(Panic); the sun at noon.
Let the Hi'dang be an emblem over My altar. He is the glory of the day as the
Great Spirit is the glory of the soul world. As you bow before him do it in
remembrance of Him Whom you do not see. He is of My body and life, and as much
as you glorify him, so will I, Eolin, the Creator, glorify you in the heavens
above (Gau). See to it that you do not worship the corporeal sun, but glorify
My works in remembrance of Me. Keep this symbol covered, except on the days of
sacrifice [worship ed.],
lest your enemies accuse you of worshipping corpor (Chine).|| 35/D.43.
The sun plays a significant part in the way the onk signifies cycles and seasons. Oahspe's image of the Onk (below) shows the sun in a pivotal role; that is, it traverses each of the divisions (signs, houses) of the onk.
According to
Osiris, Son of Jehovih (18/12.1), and afterward astrology and astronomy, and as
seen in that Oahspe onk image (i020), the onk divides into 12 sections---these
divisions being typically called signs or houses. Each onk division occupies 30
degrees of arc of the full 360 degrees of arc around the onk belt (i.e., 12
divisions x 30 degrees per division = 360 degrees). And, as mentioned previously, not only does the sun seem to progress daily around the onk, but the sun
seems to progress around the onk in a yearly cycle. But more than that, the sun
also seems to course (in a precessional or "backsliding" motion)
around the onk in a gadol cycle.
So what exactly are we aligning to at the June Solstice Point? Even as one day
is different from the previous day, so one year is different from the previous
year (and one gadol differs to the previous gadol). Each year is thus as a
colored cord which loop is completed at the Northern Line of the Sun and
integrated into the patterns of the gadol. So that at the June Solstice Point,
like upward reaching knitting loops we are brought into communion with not only
the color and flavor of the new year, but with larger cycles of which it is a
part. Yet even these, in this same propitious time of the Faithist Old and New
Years, pale in comparison when rising even higher in our focus to commune with
the Great Father of All as He builds and progresses His creations---ever
higher, ever grander, ever more eloquent in His unfolding glory; Fatherly, and
with great Love, Wisdom and Power. And with Om our Mother of All, matchless in
Harmony, Symmetry and Music as She upholds all creation to its many facets.
May the Peace, Love and Light of His Unseen Countenance, which is ever open upon all, be
received in steadfast union and upholding His Light for all.
